Individual lessons

I teach children and adults tabla, singing and harmonium by using traditional Indian methodology and didactics – online as well – and adapt to the levels and needs of those interested (language of instruction: English, German and Hindi).

An own instrument is required, but can also be organized upon request.

For professional musicians and those who would like to become such, I offer rhythm lessons.

Tabla

The lessons include the teaching of theoretical and practical knowledge of Indian music as well as of the instrument.

The striking technique is learned by reciting percussion syllables (bols). From simple basic compositions (kaidas) the student develops complex compositions including improvisations.

Vocals and Harmonium

In class I focus on ear training, vocal techniques based on the individual voice coloring and training of the breathing rhythm. The structure of the Indian tone and rhythm system (Raga and Tala) is presented and practiced. Singing goes along with the harmonium, the basic use of which is part of the elementary tuition.

The harmonium can also be learnt as an independent instrument.

Workshops and music demonstrations

I offer rhythm and singing workshop in schools – also in cooperation with other artists, f.e., Kaveri Sageder – Dance, also as part of cultural programmes of the Indian Embassy in Austria, as well as music demontrations, f.e., in 2022 with Rabindra Narayan Goswani at the University of Art in Graz.
